I was delighted to be asked recently by The Dentist podcast to share my experiences of working in dental marketing and the sector as Corona Marketing reaches its 20th birthday (where has that time gone!).
As I looked back on two decades and all the new and exciting possibilities that are now part of our everyday landscape – social media, AI, PPC et al, what actually struck me was how the fundamentals of marketing don’t and haven’t really changed.
At its heart, marketing is still about understanding your audience, identifying what they need, building trust and giving them a compelling reason to choose you. The channels and routes to market may have evolved – from print advertising and direct mail to Instagram, Google and video – but the principles remain remarkably consistent.
Successful marketing still depends on a clear proposition, a strong brand, relevant messaging and consistent communication. Technology can make marketing faster, more targeted and measurable but it doesn’t replace the fundamentals: know your customer, solve their problems, communicate your value and build lasting relationships.
