We are delighted to announce that Queens Gate Orthodontics were Dentistry Awards Winner ( https://www.dentistry.co.uk/2020/11/19/watch-dentistry-awards-2020-live/) last week! They scooped not just one, but two awards including the big one – Best Practice UK!
Organised by FMC ( https://www.dentistry.co.uk/ ), these awards are very much the ‘Oscars’ of the dental world!
This award reflects the huge amount of hard work that Claire and her team have put into the patient journey at Queens Gate Orthodontics and is so well deserved – several glasses will be raised and well done from all the team at Corona.
Queens Gate Orthodontics provide orthodontics to patients between the ages of 8-81. The practice was founded as a private specialist squat in 1989 and current Principal, Claire Nightingale, bought the practice in 2012.
The practice has a commitment to the highest standard in patient care. Their approach can be summed up:
- Compassion, honesty and trust
- Obsessive attention to detail

A story that perfectly illustrates why Queens Gate are different is that of Grace. Claire continues:
“I met Grace in the tearoom of the Intensive Care Unit at Watford General where I am a Consultant. I had volunteered to work as a runner during Covid and she was an ICU nurse. As I was discussing with two other volunteers whether our meagre contribution justified the cost of the PPE, Grace piped up to reassure us that we were very welcome as pairs of hands and had made a big difference to her work load.
We got chatting and she asked what I did. “I’m an orthodontist,” I explained. Grace responded, saying “I’ve always wanted to have a straighter smile but never quite got around to it.” She took my name down, saying that when Covid was over, she would seek me out for treatment with Invisalign. 4 months later, she duly did so and came in for a consultation.
In the meantime, she has been promoted and is now a Sister on the ICU. She worked extra shifts during March to May, had to cope with an 85% mortality rate on ICU, which included 5 members of staff. She is my NHS hero and I am going to treat her on a complimentary basis to say thank you for her personal efforts during Covid.
Remember – you never know where your patients are going to come from.”
